I graduated from the Arizona School of Massage Therapy in 2008 and have been expanding my knowledge ever since. In Vail, Colorado I practiced in a chiropractor’s office, where I gained experience working with athletes’ acute and chronic injuries. In 2010, I returned to my home state of Maine, where I worked in-house at Portland’s Body Architect, before establishing my own massage practice in Westbrook.
I completed a Thai massage program in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2011 and an acupressure program at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, California in 2013.
My interest in indigenous cultures has led me to train with Maori healers, and to study plant medicine with shamans in Peru. I have also completed a two-year apprenticeship in herbalism and the chakra system.
It is an honor for me to hold space in which clients feel safe to relax and release physical and mental energy. I consider what I do a fusion of body and energy work. Different bodies respond better to different modalities, and I go where I am guided. You’ll always get exactly what your body is asking for.
When there is an imbalance in your body, it will attempt to compensate, to right itself. (It’s often this compensation that manifests as pain.) My hands read and assist your body in doing what it knows best—how to heal. The deeper the pressure, the slower I work, which allows the fascia and deeper layers to warm up and release in their own time.
I practice my craft with the intention that clients will feel lighter, more relaxed, move with more fluidity, and experience a renewed sense of self and universal oneness after each session.
Your massage will continue to work long after you’re off the table. You may notice decreased pain, increased range of motion, postural shifts, mental clarity, lessened anxiety, strengthened immunity, increased circulation, and improved sleep.
I believe massage should be a regular part of everyone’s life. Whether you’re working through an injury, dealing with chronic stress, or wish to maintain optimum health, consider investing in a massage package at a discounted rate.
